Easton Hall move inMove-In Weekend Activities

On move-in day the BioFIRE staff and peer mentors are on hand to greet the incoming cohort and help them get settled into the BioFIRE dorm, Easton Hall. Later than day we hold a welcome dinner, which allows us to start getting to know one another.

Fall Retreat

The day after move-in, we host a full-day retreat. During the retreat, students

  • Get to know their peer mentors
  • Participate in team-building activities
  • Learn about the resources that BioFIRE provides
  • Become more familiar with campus
  • Start learning strategies for college success

Dissection labs

Dissection Labs

One of the favorite fall semester BioFIRE activities is a dissection lab. Students learn proper techniques for holding and using surgical instruments, then use those techniques to dissect a variety of different animal organ systems.

Field Trips and Workshops

Zoo tripThroughout the year, BioFIRE students can participate in a variety of enrichment opportunities, including field trips, workshops, and social activities. In past years, we have visited the National Museum of Natural History and the National Zoo. Workshops center on topics such as academic planning, applying to medical school, and finding healthy ways to manage stress.
