Kevin McIver Named Chair of UMD’s Department of Cell Biology & Molecular Genetics for Five-year Term
McIver has served as interim department chair since March 2021.
He will continue to lead 76 UMIACS faculty members and almost 200 graduate students from eight departments across the UMD campus.
Chembo joined the university in 2019 from the Georgia Tech–CNRS Joint Research Laboratory.
The team will study a previously unexplored region that may hold clues to how the moon and other similar celestial bodies formed over time.
