Biography

Evelyn joined CMNS in May 2021. As assistant director, she is responsible for onboarding new CMNS students by coordinating various programs, including the CMNS Summer and Winter Orientation, the CMNS New Student Welcome, the CMNS Peer Mentor program, CMNS UNIV100 course sections and Limited Enrollment Program workshops. 

Prior to this position, Evelyn served as the Coordinator for Orientation and Transition Programs at Miami University of Ohio and the graduate assistant for New Student Transitions and First Year Experience at UNC-Greensboro. 

Evelyn is passionate about the transition experience of first-year and transfer students and really enjoys helping them navigate everything that comes with starting college for the first time or acclimating to a new university.

What I like best about working for CMNS:

My role in CMNS really gives me the opportunity to assist new students in their transition to UMD and, more specifically, to CMNS. I really enjoy coordinating programs and events that impact the transition process for first-year and transfer students. Ultimately, I want to ensure that new students feel welcome and like they can succeed in their CMNS major.
