CMNS Receives Two Graduate Program Mentoring Excellence Awards

Two graduate programs in the University of Maryland's College of Computer, Mathematical, and Natural Sciences received 2025-26 Graduate Program Mentoring Excellence Awards: the Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Science and the Biological Sciences Graduate Program.

The Graduate Program Mentoring Excellence Award recognizes graduate programs that make mentoring a core program responsibility by building a culture of high-quality, inclusive, and accountable mentoring. The award seeks to spotlight programs that use evidence-based, equitable, responsive and sustainable mentoring practices, and that use measurable outcomes to support graduate students’ success and belonging, while preparing them for diverse career pathways.

The award includes $1,000 for the unit to support mentoring activities.
