Nicole Yunger Halpern is an adjunct assistant professor in the Institute for Physical Science and Technology (IPST), the Joint Institute for Quantum Information and Computer Science (QuICS), and a staff member at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). She earned her Ph.D. at California Institute of Technology in 2018, winning the international Ilya Prigogine Prize for a thermodynamics thesis. Nicole re-envisions 19th-century thermodynamics for the 21st century using the mathematical toolkit of quantum information theory.
