The University of Maryland was once again highly ranked by U.S. News & World Report's 2015 Best Graduate Schools – with 19 programs and specialties ranked in the top 10, and 46 programs and specialties ranked in the top 25.

The College of Computer, Mathematical, and Natural Sciences had an impressive 13 programs and specialties in the top 25. Those include six in the top 10 – Physics' plasma, atomic/molecular/optical, quantum, and condensed matter specialties; the applied math specialty; and earth sciences' geochemistry specialty.

The college's rankings included:

    • Physics ranked 14th
      • The plasma specialty ranked 3rd
      • The atomic/molecular/optical specialty ranked 6th
      • The quantum specialty ranked 8th
      • The condensed matter specialty ranked 10th
      • The cosmology/relativity/gravity specialty ranked 13th
    • Computer science ranked 15th
      • The systems specialty ranked 13th
      • The programming language specialty ranked 13th
      • The artificial intelligence specialty ranked 16th
    • Mathematics ranked 17th
      • The applied math specialty ranked 10th
    • Earth sciences ranked 32nd
      • The geochemistry specialty ranked 7th
    • Chemistry ranked 41st
    • Biological sciences ranked 55th
