Elizabeth is a senior Astronomy and Physics double major in the University Honors Program from Germantown, MD. She is a member of Ballet Company M and a Head Coach in the Math Success Program. Her favorite place on campus is the Clarice library and her favorite class has been ASTR310: Observational Astronomy.

Valentina Petroni

Valentina is a senior Astronomy and Physics double major from Mahwah, NJ. She is involved with the Maryland Equestrian Club and loves to take care of the horses on campus. She also loves joining the Astronomy Genteladies Network (AGN) for biweekly tea times and loves to volunteer at the University’s observatory when she has the time. CarlieChristine Zhang

Christine is a senior pursuing a Biochemistry and Biological Sciences: Physiology & Neurobiology double degree from Boyds, MD. She was a member of the Integrated Life Sciences program and her favorite classes so far have been Organic Chemistry I (CHEM231), Physical Chemistry I (CHEM481), and Mammalian Physiology (BSCI440). On campus, she is involved in undergraduate research, Terps for Change, and a co-ed professional fraternity. In her free time, she loves hiking and exploring the D.C. area, playing intramural sports, and running!

Emily is a senior, Biochemistry major with a Math minor from Baltimore County, MD. She was a part of BioFIRE Living and Learning program and her favorite classes currently are BSCI222 (Genetics) and CHEM247 (Organic Chemistry II). Her favorite spot on campus is the area outside of the Physical Science Complex building. She currently works in two labs: one is a Genetics lab in the Entomology Department and the other is a Biophysics lab in the Physics Department.

Julia Dixon

Julia is a senior double majoring in Biochemistry and Mathematics with a specialization in Statistics from Fulton, Maryland. During her free time, she enjoys hanging out with friends, taking barre classes at OpenBarre, and learning American Sign Language. Her favorite class she has taken at UMD is BCHM461: Biochemistry I and her favorite spots on campus include the coffee bar at the Edward St. John Learning and Teaching Center (ESJ) and the fifth floor of McKeldin Library.

Alejandro is a senior General Biology major in the University Honors program from Myersville, MD. His favorite place on campus is the Clarice. His favorite classes have been MUSC210, MUSC220, and HONR218M. He completed the FIRE: Found in Translation stream, is an Experience Leader for Alternative Breaks, and is part of the Men’s Ultimate Frisbee team, Latin Dance Club, Club Climbing, and Alpha Phi Omega.

Alexis Beaver is a senior Biological Sciences: Physiology and Neurobiology major and is part of  BioFIRE and FIRE. She is from Queenstown, MD and her favorite places on campus include the Natatorium at Eppley and the stone steps in front of McKeldin Library. In her free time she enjoys watching movies, going out with friends, and avoiding chemistry at all costs. She is originally from Woodbine, Maryland but currently resides in Fulton, Maryland. She volunteers with the Maryland Math Program, formerly America Counts, and as a University Honors Peer Mentor. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, watching movies, exploring D.C., and attending Maryland basketball games. Her favorite places on campus include the many levels of Edward St. John (ESJ), the Moxley Gardens behind Riggs Alumni Center, Morrill Quad, and Eppley Recreation Center. Brittany Shapiro is a junior majoring in Biological Sciences: Cell Biology and Genetics from Huntingtown, Maryland. Jenna is a sophomore General Biology major from Rockville, Maryland. Skylar is a sophomore from Germantown, Maryland in the Design, Cultures, and Creativity honors program. He's a Computer Science major and a Humanities, Health, and Medicine minor, and is considering an MD/PhD in bioinformatics. He's a counselor for Camp Kesem, a national community that supports children through and beyond their parent’s cancer. In his free time, he enjoys composing electronic music, practicing karate, and playing too many video games. Ritwika is a junior Computer Science major and Math minor from Westminster, Maryland. Cameron Hewitt

Cameron is a junior Applied Mathematics major with an intended double major in Criminal Justice and Criminology from Frederick, Maryland. He is involved on campus with the Residence Hall Association (RHA) and the First-Year Innovation and Research Experience (FIRE). He was enrolled in the Immunogenetics stream in FIRE and completed the summer fellowship offered by the program. His favorite locations on campus are Tawes Plaza and the Cambridge Community Center. His favorite class so far in college has been CHEM231 - Organic Chemistry 1.

Jonathan Lin

Jonathan is a junior mathematics major from Potomac, Maryland. His favorite place on campus is the undergraduate math building lounge and his favorite classes so far have been MATH340 (Honors Multivariable Calculus) and MATH403 (Abstract Algebra). Jonathan is involved in the Beekeeping Club, the Rubik's Cube club, and the Swing Dance Club. Jonathan has the Maryland state record for solving a rubik's cube with his feet.

 

 

 

SiriKyle Lao

Kyle Lao is a junior Mathematics major on the MCERT track to earn her graduate degree in Secondary Education. She is from Laytonsville, MD and went to Churchill High School. Outside of class, Kyle is part of the Taiwanese American Student Association (TASA), Terrapin Teachers, and Multicultural Greek Life.  The second floor of McKeldin Library has been her favorite place to study since freshman year and her favorite class so far has been MATH406: Introduction to Number Theory.

 

 

 

SiriShubhankar Sachdev

Shubhankar is a senior Computer Science and Mathematics double major from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is currently a teaching assistant for CMSC351, and is also a course facilitator for the CMSC389O STIC (student taught instruction course). Sriya is a sophomore Applied Mathematics major and French Studies minor from Clarksville, MD. She is on a pre-med track in the Integrated Life Sciences honors program. Her favorite places on campus are Eppley Recreational Center and the STEM library. In her free time she likes to hang out with friends and spend time outside. Siri Neerchal is a senior Mathematics and History double major from Ellicott City, MD. She is also a viola performance minor and is in the Honors Humanities program. Cameron is a sophomore from Bethesda, Maryland. He’s majoring in Neuroscience with minors in Statistics and Philosophy and is part of the University Honors program. His favorite place on campus is Chick-fil-A. He is an avid reader and writer, and loves to spend his nights skating around campus. So far, his favorite class has been CHEM 232: Organic Chemistry Laboratory I.

Leeza is a junior Physics major from Newtown, Pennsylvania. She is in the Design Cultures and Creativity Honors College Program. She is also involved in physics research with the Trapped Ion Quantum Information group at the Joint Quantum Insitute. Her favorite places are the Quantum Cafe and Hornbake Plaza. So far, her favorite classes have been PHYS273 (Waves) and HDCC106 (Digital Feminisms).
