Hello! My name is Priyanka, and I'm a senior Physiology and Neurobiology major in University Honors. I'm originally from Holmdel, NJ. I am pre-med and hoping to apply to medical schools in June of 2018, and I'm most interested in surgery. I'm taking a gap year, so if you want to talk to me about that, feel free! Aside from being a Peer Mentor, I am a Supplemental Instructor for the Academic Achievement Program, where I instruct for CHEM131 and CHEM135. I am also a Clinical Research Associate at the Shock Trauma Center at the University of Maryland Medical School in Baltimore. I have been a mentor for America Reads* America Counts for two years (although I had to leave the program recently :'( ), and can talk to you about the program if you're interested! In my free time, I love to read, watch Netflix, paint, and hang out with my friends. Alicia BriscoeAlicia Briscoe

Hey everyone! My name is Alicia Briscoe, and I am a Senior majoring in General Biology. I am from Bowie, Maryland which is in Prince George's County where this University is located! My plans after graduating from the University of Maryland are to go to dental school, and from there, hopefully go to a more specialized dental school in Orthodontics! Aside of being a Peer Mentor, I am a member of the Student Dental Advisory Board, Charles R. Drew Pre-Health Society, and the Student Success Leadership Council. I am also a member of the Tenacious Theta Nu Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. In addition, I worked as an Undergraduate Researcher in an Entomology lab focusing on the segmentation in Mediterranean field crickets, and I currently do research in the Psychology Department linked with the Psychology of Evil class and its students' responses to performing good deeds and their performance in the class. Other than all that serious stuff, I am an energetic and fun person to talk to about anything, and if you ever have any questions about college life to academics to whatever, you can come to me, and I'll give you the most honest answer. During my free time, I live the life of a typical college student which includes everything in addition to having fun! Hey everyone! My name is Eleanor, and I'm a Physiology and Neurobiology major from Howard County, MD. I transferred to UMD as a junior and am happy to answer any questions from fellow transfer students. I’m currently finishing my 9th semester “victory lap” here at UMD. After graduation in December 2017, I will start applying to physician assistant school. I'm currently in the pre-PA club here on campus. I volunteer as an EMT in Baltimore County and work as a medical assistant in a primary care office in Howard County. I’ve also interned at the UMMC neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) in Baltimore. At my previous college, I was on the leadership board for Global Medical Brigades and got to travel to Panama to provide health care in a rural area. Hi, my name is Anya and I'm a senior Chemistry major (and Business minor) from Columbia Maryland! After graduating, I want to work in a cosmetic formulation lab and start a career in research and development. Eventually, I want to go to graduate school so I can work my way up to doing innovative research related to the beauty industry. Fun fact, my dream job would be to work for tarte, Anastasia Beverly Hills, or l'Oreal R&D. Another fun fact, my family is from Kiev, Ukraine, so come talk to me in Russian sometime! Other than that, I like traveling, spending time outdoors, and hanging with friends and my dog, who is a Scottish Terrier named Umka. Hey party people! My name is Adriana Gomes and I am a junior General Biology major. Along with that, I am minoring in Human Development and am on the Pre-Med track! After completing my undergraduate degree, I plan to attend medical school and aspire to be a physician! Fun fact about me is that I was born in New Delhi, India, I love elephants with a passion, and I recently ran a half marathon! Other than being a peer mentor for CMNS, I am an active member in the American Medical Student Association (AMSA) and CHAARG. Since high school I have also interned at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) doing bioengineering research. Hey everyone! My name is Raghav Gupta and I am an international student from India. I am a junior majoring in computer science with a minor in technology entrepreneurship. I am currently the secretary for the UMD Virtual Reality club and have a strong interest in data analytics. I was a member of the Terrapin Institute of Leadership and F.I.R.E, so feel free to ask me about any of my experiences or interests. After college, I plan to be a data scientist at a big tech company and then think about grad school. I have interned at the Smithsonian and worked with the NSA. Hey everyone! My name is Gelila Haile and I'm a junior biology major here from Montgomery County, MD. So far during my time here I've become a member of the Charles R. Drew Pre--Health Society, done research on environmental pathogens with UMD's FIRE program, and volunteered at the UHC pharmacy. I also currently work as a part time instructor, teaching young kids about science and robotics. After I graduate, I intend to get my masters or doctorate's in the healthcare field. In my free time I like to hang out with friends, watch Netflix, cook up a storm, and sing. My passion for the field of medicine and community service encouraged me to pursue the pre-med track in hopes of becoming a dermatologist. Hello everyone! My name is Reethika Maddineni and I'm a senior, double-majoring in Biological Sciences: Neurobiology & Physiology and Psychology. I am from Maryland and live in Montgomery County. I plan to attend medical school after finishing college. I am currently a research assistant at a lab at the University of Maryland. I have served as a Learning Assistant for BSCI105 (now BSCI170 and BSCI171) and tutor fifth graders in math and reading. Hey guys! My name is Brooke McClain and I am a Neurobiology and Physiology major and a Spanish Language, Business, and Cultures minor. I am from Fort Washington in Prince George’s County, Maryland. I spent my last two academic years at the University of Maryland, College Park and am currently a junior. My plans after graduating are to attend medical school and eventually start my own private practice. I am currently an active member of Terps For Change, a group dedicated to different forms of community service around the College Park area. I have also acted as a Learning Assistant for BSCI160 and a Resident Life Ambassador on campus. I am passionate about helping others, so feel free to get in touch whenever you feel like you need it. Hi everyone! My name is Dana McFarlane and I’m a junior Computer Science major and Actuarial Mathematics minor from Montgomery County Maryland. After I graduate, I hope to become a software engineer and continue to build my skills. So far at Maryland, I have worked with Maryland’s Center for Women in Computing to help increase the retention rate of (you guessed it!) women in computing. Besides being a Peer Mentor, I am also on Technia’s 2017-2018 Outreach team. This past summer, I worked at PenFed Credit Union as a software engineering intern, which was pretty cool. Hi, I’m Katie! I am a senior Biology major specializing in Ecology and Evolution with a minor in sustainability. I currently live in Frederick, MD but I grew up moving all over the world including really exotic locations such as Texas. I absolutely love traveling, being outdoors, meeting new people/animals and trying new foods.  After graduation, I plan to travel for a while before joining a service organization that works toward conservation and sustainability. Hello everyone! My name is Kelly Parisi, and I am a Junior majoring in Neurobiology and Physiology with a minor in General Business. I am from Severna Park, Maryland which is is right near our state capital, Annapolis! My plans after graduating from the University of Maryland are to get my MBA and from there hopefully pursue a job in pharmaceuticals! Aside of being a Peer Mentor, I am a Head Lifeguard, Risk Auditor, and Swimming Instructor at Eppley Recreational Center, Director of Recruitment for The Pride, and a member of the living and learning program BioFIRE. As a part of this program, I had the opportunity to work in a microbiology research lab called Transgenerational Brain Initiative which focused on mutating the genes of C.elegans to see if we could change the genome for multiple generations. Aside from work and school, I am a huge sports fan and you can find me at any game. Fun fact, as Director of Recruitment for The Pride, I help plan and promote the free giveaways for the games! Hey! My name is Priyal Patel and I am a senior Neurobiology and Physiology major, and I plan on going to dental school! I recently got certified in dental assisting and radiology, so I plan to be a dental assistant during my senior year and my gap year! I also will be volunteering at University of Maryland Medical Center Dental Clinic in Baltimore! I spent this past summer monitoring water quality in Greenbelt, as well as volunteering with MUSST to provide referrals for eye, dental, medical, and other services to low income families in Montgomery County. This summer I also had a research position in The Injury Prevention Research Laboratory within the Consortium for Health and Military Performance, where I assisted with data collection! On campus, I am a Resident Assistant, and will be one for my second year in Elkton Hall! I also have participated in two alternative breaks trips, Indianapolis and Boston, and it is my favorite organization I have joined so far as it combines my loves for service and traveling in one; I’ll be going on my third trip this year! I am also a member of the professional Biology fraternity Beta Psi Omega and was in the Science and Global Change Scholars Program! Being a peer mentor has been one of the best jobs ever, and I cannot wait to meet and help you all out with your four year plans/ any questions you may have!

Hi everyone! My name is Mitch and I’m a senior double majoring in Biochemistry and General Biology with a minor in Statistics. After college, I hope to go right into graduate school and eventually get my PhD. In addition to being a peer mentor, I am in Alpha Chi Sigma, the Co-Ed Professional Chemistry Fraternity on campus. I am currently a biological sciences aid at the USDA in Beltsville. I have also had previous research experience at the National Museum of Natural History and in a biophysics lab here on campus. During my first two years at Maryland, I was in Global Communities Living Learning Program based in Dorchester Hall. I also participated in UMD’s Alternative Break program to Andros, Bahamas, which was one of my best college experiences so far! Hey everyone! My name is Krishna and I am sophomore dual degree in Neurobiology & Physiology and Psychology from Germantown, MD! I am on the pre-med track and I am also in the Life Sciences Scholars program. In addition to being a peer mentor, I am currently a member of a pre-health fraternity Delta Epsilon Mu, a member of the Executive Board for Maryland Masti, which is an intercollegiate garba/raas competition that is held here at Maryland every year, and I also work in the D.R.E.A.M Psychology lab under the direction of Dr. Selterman. For the past 3 years, I have had the privilege of working on viruses such as HIV and Influenza in a lab at the Food and Drug Administration. In the past, I was a part of the Freshman Committee for the Indian Student's Association here at UMD and served as a peer mentor at SSSBC Bal Vikas, which is an organization the promotes spirituality and unity of faiths! A few of my interests include, binge watching TV shows, cooking, traveling and anything related to medicine! After graduation I hope to attend medical school and save some lives. Aside from being a peer mentor I am now an alum of the College Park Scholars Program for Public Leadership; so if you’re in scholars I am answer any questions about that! I am also a Maryland Images Campus tour guide, a member of the co-ed profession biology frat, Beta Psi Omega, and I’m also am an exec member of Relay for Life. This past summer I was a part of the Medical and Dental Education Program at Rutgers Medical School. I cannot wait to meet all of you and I hope to see you around Symons Hall! Ahoy! My name is Berwin Yuan, and I am a junior majoring in General Biology, Psychology, and Biochemistry. I was a Life Sciences Scholar during my first two years at UMD, so I can try my best to answer any questions you have about the Scholars program. Hey there everyone! My name is Noah Zinger and I am a Junior Computer Science major and Astronomy minor from Annapolis, Maryland. Though I may be a CS major who sits behind a computer all day, I have many interests centered in the great outdoors. I am part of the UMD Wildlife Society and the Beekeeping Club at UMD, and want to combine my love for computers with my love for the environment in the future. I’ve spent the previous summer working for Rockwell Collins as a junior programmer and before coming to UMD I was a volunteer at the National Aquarium in Baltimore. When I have free time, I enjoy playing Smash or soccer, hanging out with friends, or various side projects on my computer.
