I have also interned at research labs focusing on inhibiting the growth of human breast cancer cells by targeting micro-RNA. After graduation, I plan on attending pharmacy school. Hello all, my name is Manuella Djomaleu, and I am currently a junior Biological Sciences: Physiology and Neurobiology major. I aspire to be a physician with a focus on international medicine. I started my college career as a member of BioFIRE, and I am a tutor for current BioFIRE students. Apart from conducting research under FIRE, I also conducted research on plant virus on campus for one year. This semester, I am excited to work as a research associate for clinical research at Prince George's County Hospital. Aside from being a Peer Mentor, I also work as resident assistant in Elkton Hall. I spent the past summer working as a medical assistant at a dermatology private practice. I have gone on two Alternative Breaks throughout my undergraduate exams career. Although I love being busy, I also enjoy writing poetry, reading articles and exploring restaurants in DC. Fun fact, I'm originally from Cameroon, a small nation in Central Africa, and my second language is French!
Hi, my name is Neil Garg and I am a junior Biology major life science alumni at the University of Maryland. I am on the Premed track and am excited to apply to Med school next year. In the past I have scribed at offices such as Montgomery Cardiology and Capital Integrative Health. I also recently acquired my EMT-B license and plan on riding for the college park station. This summer I headed the Volunteers around the World Maryland chapter as the clinical chair and site director. I was able to bring a team to the Dominican Republic and provide aid through clinics to locals. On campus I am involved in Greek life, diversity and inclusion, athletics, tutoring and much more. In my free time I enjoy reading, skateboarding, playing soccer, hammocking, and watching marvel movies.

Hey all, my name is Will Guo and I am currently a junior Computer Science major with a minor in GIS. I'm from Washington County, Maryland. At the University I've been a Site Coordinator with Terps for Change in the LCSL office with regards to Community Forklift (they have really cool furniture) and I'm the Trail Maintenance Officer for the Terrapin Trails Club. After graduation I hope to work with GPS navigation and maps as either a software developer or a cartographer. Outside of academics, I enjoy anything outdoors (camping, hiking, backpacking, caving, kayaking, etc.), watching/playing basketball, traveling and I'm also a huge movie nerd. Hey everyone! My name is Gelila Haile and I'm a junior biology major here from Montgomery County, MD. So far during my time here I've become a member of the Charles R. Drew Pre--Health Society, done research on environmental pathogens with UMD's FIRE program, and volunteered at the UHC pharmacy. I also currently work as a part time instructor, teaching young kids about science and robotics. After I graduate, I intend to get my masters or doctorate's in the healthcare field. Hey guys! My name is Brooke McClain and I am a Neurobiology and Physiology major and a Spanish Language, Business, and Cultures minor. I am from Fort Washington in Prince George’s County, Maryland. I spent my last two academic years at the University of Maryland, College Park and am currently a junior. My plans after graduating are to attend medical school and eventually start my own private practice. I am currently an active member of Terps For Change, a group dedicated to different forms of community service around the College Park area. Hi everyone! My name is Dana McFarlane and I’m a junior Computer Science major and Actuarial Mathematics minor from Montgomery County Maryland. After I graduate, I hope to become a software engineer and continue to build my skills. So far at Maryland, I have worked with Maryland’s Center for Women in Computing to help increase the retention rate of (you guessed it!) women in computing. Besides being a Peer Mentor, I am also on Technia’s 2017-2018 Outreach team. This past summer, I worked at PenFed Credit Union as a software engineering intern, which was pretty cool. Hello everyone! My name is Vikram and I am currently a junior majoring in Physiology and Neurobiology and minoring in Religious Studies. I'm from Germantown, MD so I'm familiar with the Moco area as it's where I've been raised for most of my life. I am an active member of Beta Psi Omega, a biology/service fraternity here at UMD. I will be working with the Global Medical Brigades chapter at UMD for my third year this semester and I highly recommend you join if you are interested in setting up pop-up clinics and working on public health projects with communities abroad in countries like Honduras and Nicaragua (where we went the last two summers). I intern at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda in an Oncology genetics department lab and work closely with Osteosarcoma. I plan on going to medical school and I completely understand the stresses that students may experience from being on any pre-health track or any STEM major for that matter. As a peer mentor I am here to help alleviate that stress by helping you in any way I can. Hello everyone! My name is Kelly Parisi, and I am a Junior majoring in Neurobiology and Physiology with a minor in General Business. I am from Severna Park, Maryland which is is right near our state capital, Annapolis! My plans after graduating from the University of Maryland are to get my MBA and from there hopefully pursue a job in pharmaceuticals! Aside of being a Peer Mentor, I am a Head Lifeguard, Risk Auditor, and Swimming Instructor at Eppley Recreational Center, Director of Recruitment for The Pride, and a member of the living and learning program BioFIRE. As a part of this program, I had the opportunity to work in a microbiology research lab called Transgenerational Brain Initiative which focused on mutating the genes of C.elegans to see if we could change the genome for multiple generations. Aside from work and school, I am a huge sports fan and you can find me at any game. Fun fact, as Director of Recruitment for The Pride, I help plan and promote the free giveaways for the games! Hi everyone! My name is Michael Strayhorn and I am senior majoring in Biological Sciences: Physiology & Neurobiology. I was formerly in the Life Science Scholars program and I am currently on the pre-med track. I have gotten fairly involved in various campus organizations throughout my years here at UMD. I was a member in the Student Health Advisory Committee, the academic chair for a social fraternity, and a clinical RA for the CATCH study at SPH. This summer, I had the opportunity to conduct research at Johns Hopkins lab studying organogenesis of the salivary gland of Drosophila. Hey there everyone! My name is Noah Zinger and I am a Senior Computer Science major and Astronomy minor from Annapolis, Maryland. Though I may be a CS major who sits behind a computer all day, I have many interests centered in the great outdoors. I am part of the UMD Wildlife Society and President of the Beekeeping Club at UMD, and want to combine my love for computers with my love for the environment in the future. I've spent my past two summers working for Rockwell Collins as a junior programmer and before coming to UMD I was a volunteer at the National Aquarium in Baltimore. When I have free time, I enjoy playing Super Smash Bros, hanging out with my friends, or working on various side projects on my computer.
