James A. Yorke Rotunda of the Mathematics Building


Wallace D. Loh, President of the University of Maryland, cordially invites you to the dedication of William E. Kirwan Hall. On October 29, 2015, the Mathematics Building will be renamed to honor William E. "Brit" Kirwan, University System of Maryland Chancellor Emeritus and University of Maryland Mathematics Professor Emeritus.

The event will take place in the James A. Yorke Rotunda of the Mathematics Building. A reception will immediately follow the ceremony.

William E. "Brit" Kirwan joined the University of Maryland as an assistant professor in the Department of Mathematics in 1964. In 1977, he became chair of the department. Kirwan also served as vice president for academic affairs and provost before serving as president of the University of Maryland for 10 years (1988-1998), president of Ohio State University for four years (1998-2002) and USM chancellor (2002-2015).
